August Blood Drive a Success!

The old art room was bustling with activity on August 24th as 25 students, recent graduates, parents, staff and community members came out to donate blood.  The KY Blood Center out of Somerset set up inside the school because the infamous Blood Mobile was not available this time.  19 life-saving units were given.  Seven students out of sixteen gave for the first time ever.

Last year, the KY Blood Center provided  Red Bird graduate, Niki Smith, a $250 scholarship based on the 43 total blood units donated throughout last school year.  To increase that scholarship to $500 for this year, Red Bird Mission School and the Red Bird Community must donate over 60 units by May, 2012.  19 is a good start!

Future drives have been set for Monday, October 31st and Wednesday, February 8th.

Let’s help save a life, Cardinals!
